Thank you for your enquiry.
Tubifast Gloves will be available on prescription from 1st December 2006. You should also be able to purchase these directly from the pharmacist.

My wife is 6 months pregnant and suffering from severe eczema. Can she use Epaderm whilst pregnant?

Hi Thanks for your question.
Epaderm is safe to use all through pregnancy. However, as with all products you should let your doctor or midwife know what you are using.
I hope this helps.

Am i able to buy epaderm without a prescription?

Thanks for your enquiry.
Yes- you can get Epaderm without a prescription but you may need to ask your pharmacist for it as not all chemists have it on display.
I hope you are able to find Epaderm in your local pharmacy.

Could you tell me if Tubifast Garments are available in adult sizes?

I'm sorry but we only have Tubifast Garments in Childrens sizes at the moment.
However, tubifast bandages, which can be used for wet and dry wrapping, are available in sizes that will fit most adults.

Can I get gloves/mittens for my 8 month old son. Baby scratch mitts are too small!

Thanks for your query.
I am afraid there are no Tubifast gloves in the current Tubifast Garments range, but you may wish to use the Tubifast bandages for wrists and in between fingers. (Socks are available in the Tubifast Garment range for use on feet).
Holes can be made at the end of the Tubifast bandages , the holes should be large enough not to restrict the fingers.
It is important to check the fingers after applying wet wraps to ensure that no cotton fibres from the bandages are caught on the nails, as this can lead to an infection of the nail.
I hope that this information is of help, but please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further assistance.

What is the composition of Tubifast Garments?

86% Viscose
11% Nylon
3% Elastane

Can Tubifast bandages be washed and re-used?

Yes, Tubifast bandages can be washed at 40°C but some fraying at the edges should be expected.

At what temperature can Tubifast Garments be washed and dried?

Tubifast Garments can be machine washed at 60°C and tumble dried on cool.

What is the difference between Tubifast Garments and normal cotton sleep suits?

Tubifast Garments are medical garments and can be used with emollients to help treat atopic eczema. Their snug fit and thin composition allows the skin to still breathe, while helping to break the itch-scratch cycle of atopic eczema.
Normal cotton sleep suits are not designed to be used in the wet wrapping process.

What are the benefits of using Epaderm?

Epaderm is a heavy-duty emollient that contains no fragrances, colours or additives. It has been recommended that the greasier the emollient, the more effective it is (McHenry et al 1995). Epaderm is convenient, providing three benefits in one product:
· It is an emollient.
· It is a skin cleanser.
· It is a bath additive.

How should emollients be applied?

The emollient should be applied in a downward motion, in the direction of hair growth. This prevents folliculitis (blocking of the hair follicles).

What is the best way to get Epaderm into the bath?

Take about 4g of Epaderm (the size of a £2 coin) and melt this in a tumbler of hot water. When cooled sufficiently, add to the bath. Do not apply hot water directly to the skin and take care not to slip in the bath. Bathing using emollients helps to rehydrate the skin, and is considered a key part of complete emollient therapy.

Which goes on first - emollient or steroid?

The use of any topical treatments should be under the advice of a healthcare professional.

The skin is openly infected - can it be wet wrapped?

If there is any sign of infection you must consult a healthcare professional.

Are Tubifast Garments and bandages rubber-free?

Tubifast Garments and bandages do not contain natural rubber latex. However, they are manufactured in an environment where natural rubber latex may be present.

Are Tubifast Garments, bandages and Epaderm available on prescription?

Yes, they are all available on prescription.
